Interview With Author Jessica Ingro

I am so excited and honored to bring you guys Jessica Ingro's first official interview! Get to know her a little bit better, and don't forget her book, Love Square, is coming out this July! Hope you enjoy!

What made you decide to start writing?
I’d been toying with the idea for a while, but after watching a television interview with Colleen Hoover, I thought to myself, “Why not me?” That night I sat down and outlined Love Square. I decided if I didn’t at least try, I’d never know if people would like it or if I could be successful at writing.
Where do you get the inspiration for stories and characters?
I’ve always had “people” talking in my head. Strange, I know. It’s as if I’m watching a television show play out sometimes. The story behind Love Square had been popping up for the last few years and the characters formed through those interactions.
What is your writing process like?
I like to write scenes as they pop into my head. Once the story is a little more formed, I try to work from beginning to end. Every now and then, a character demands his or her time and I have to skip around to give them what they want.
Which character of yours is your favorite and why?
Hmmm… that’s a hard one to answer! It’s like asking me to pick my favorite kid! LOL! I like them all for different reasons: Sam because she goes through a journey of discovery to find her true self, Aiden because he’s a fighter, Brooke because she says it like it is and of course Jacob because he is a lover.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I’m not sure. Right now I fall into the contemporary romance category, but I would love to explore stories with a hint of mystery/suspense or even ones that are complete mind fucks.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Happiness comes from within – you can’t expect others to deliver it to you. If life isn’t what you want it to be, make it something better!
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many. But I think Kristen Ashley and Lorelei James are top of that list. I can honestly say I’ve read most of their books multiple times and still keep going back for more!
What books have most influenced your life most?
I don’t know if any specific book has influenced me, but rather a collection of books. I’ve been gravitating towards books that make you stop and think. The ones that open your eyes to situations you might not have known much about or that they existed. I like to be entertained, but also to feel like I’ve learned something in the process.
What book are you reading now?
Losing Me, Finding You by C.M. Stunich
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I recently met a new author on Facebook, Belle Aurora. Her debut novel, Friend-Zoned was hysterical! I’m looking forward to the rest of that series!
Who designs your book covers?
For Love Square, I used Arijana with Cover It! Designs. She is a gem to work with and very talented!
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Keeping myself on task. If there is a computer in front of me, I’m usually jumping between a million different screens doing everything but what I originally sat down to do!
What was your favorite part of your book(s)?
I’d have to say it is the one part of the story written in Aiden’s POV! I don’t want to give anything away, but there is a major plot twist where he is concerned! Even I didn’t it see it coming!
Is there anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
I did try to lace bits and pieces of myself into the book, like Sam’s obsession with former Boston Red Sox Catcher – Jason Varitek. Otherwise, the story is a work of fiction.
How do you come up with the titles for your books?
I had been batting around title ideas with some girlfriends for a while. There were a couple contenders but it felt like they weren’t original. One night, I went home complaining about it and my husband asked me what the story was about. I told him it was a love triangle turned into a square. He said, “There’s your title.” And that was how Love Square came to be!
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to read! Last year I set a goal of 365 books in 365 days and I surpassed it. Some might say it’s an unhealthy obsession but I don’t agree!
If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Karen Carpenter. I’ve been in love with her since I was a little girl. She was one of the first great female drummers, proving you can do anything you set your mind to. She also had a voice like an angel!
Do you have any upcoming projects?
I do have a certain gentleman, named Ben, in my head that keeps asking me to write his HEA. I will definitely work on that for him once Love Square is released.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I really hope they enjoy the book. I love the feeling I get from a really good story, and I hope that feeling transfers over when they read it!

Beautiful, isn't it?!!?!?!?!! The tentative release date for Love Square is July 2013. I can't wait to get my hands on this book. It sounds amazing!

Synopsis:

A love triangle gone bad...

He was the one guy I couldn't get enough of. One look from him would make me melt. He was the one I always wanted to love me, but always seemed so far away. Now he stands before me and he's turning my world upside down.

At one time I would have done anything to be close to him. But will that anything include betraying the man I pledged myself to and that loves me faithfully?

Samantha Monroe had it all. Or at least everyone thought she did. A career on the rise, a gorgeous husband, great friends and a beautiful home. So why does she feel so alone and empty? When she reconnects with an old flame, lines are tested and compromises made in a quest for happiness.

Jacob Matthews always wondered what happened to Sam Monroe. When fate brings them together after all these years, he can't help but wonder if it’s meant to be. But when he meets his perfect woman, there is no doubt in his mind she's his soul mate.

Will the search for happiness cost them everything or will their love square show them what really matters?

I awake and slowly blink the sleep out of my eyes. The sun is fading, casting dark shadows in the room. I turn my head to see I’m alone in the bed. Lying on my stomach, staring non-seeing into the room, I remember how exquisitely fucked I was just a few hours ago.

The feel of his hard body over me and his cock moving in and out of me, the sweat dripping off him as we both came. I feel myself get turned on all over again, and he isn’t even here touching me. Then I remember his muted words spoken right before I fell asleep.

“I want you to know I would have waited another sixteen years to be able to feel that with you again.”

I’m finding it hard to believe that Jacob could rescue me from the prison I’ve put myself in over the years, living the life of someone other than whom I feel I should be. Even if that is my true wish, wishes don’t always come true.

The hotel room door opens and Jacob walks in carrying a couple bottles of water from a vending machine, setting them on a side table. He looks yummy as he walks to the bed with a wide smile on his face. Sitting next to me on the edge of the bed, he bends down and kisses my shoulder and down my naked spine, stopping where the sheet lies just above my ass.

“Hey, sleepyhead.” He murmurs in between those drugging kisses. My legs start to stir beneath the sheet and I’m tempted to take another ride before I have to leave.

“Hi. If you keep doing that, you’re not going to be able to stop me from having my wicked way with you again and I need to leave soon.” I sigh with frustration.

“Maybe that’s exactly what I want.” Running a finger up and down my spine, he stretches out next to me.

“I’m sure it is, but I have stuff to get done before I’m back on the road in a few days. I warned you I didn’t have much time but I would do my best to make this work.”

“It feels like I just got you back, and now you have to go away again. I’d much rather see your beautiful face, instead of dreaming of it. Will you have time to sneak away again before you fly out?”

“I’m not sure. We’ll have to play it by ear. I don’t know how much I have to give you, Jacob. And I’m not just talking about my time either. I’ve been going down this lonely path for a while now and I’m not sure where it’s left me. Regardless of what we did today, I am still a married woman with commitments and responsibilities.” I hate bringing up this fact, but I need the reminder out there that this isn’t a fairytale. Its real life, and its messy.

He leans over and thoroughly kisses me before murmuring, “I know. And I’ll take whatever I can get with you. It’s better than having none of you.”

With that parting blow, he kisses me one last time, grabs his keys and heads out.

“Text me later, baby. I’ll be waiting.”

I sure hope I know what I’m doing, because it feels as though things are going to get extremely complicated.

Sounds amazing huh? July needs to hurry and get here!!!

The Voice sale in honor of SAAM

In honor of SAAM, The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davis, is on sale for only .99 cents!!!!!

During her abduction and assault, Audrey begins to hear a voice. She hopes she's not going crazy, because after what she's experienced, that's the most logical explanation. However, as she begins to listen to the voice, Audrey realizes that someone may be telepathically trying to help her.
Unfortunately, rescue isn't all she needs. In order to leave behind the constant reminders, she flees to her Aunt Kate's house in San Diego, and assumes a new identity. It works until the eighteen-year-old twin boys who live next door threaten to break through the protective walls she's worked so hard to build.
Between Caleb going out of his way to befriend her and Justin avoiding her at all costs, Audrey doesn't know if normalcy will ever find her again. But one thing is certain: When a familiar danger resurfaces, it's the same voice that she turns to -- a voice that is not only real, but a lot closer than she realizes.
Gripping and tastefully told, The Voice is a story of healing, trust, and courage.

My First Book Signing Experience

What did you do yesterday you ask? Well I went to my very first book signing!!! :) I had the pleasure of meeting one of my favorite authors and fellow Oklahoman, Jamie McGuire!!!! Exciting you say? Well yes, it was very exciting meeting her and getting my copy of Walking Disaster signed. Only thing was, the excitement didn't end there. I should have known the day was going to be filled with surprises when things started going downhill before I even left the house. I was preparing for the hour and half trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma to meet her when I was putting coolant in my car and the wind had to be mean to me. Yup, the wind. As I was pouring, the wind picked up and blew my hair right into the stream of coolant!!! Ugh! Have you ever felt that stuff? It is slick and oily feeling and it stinks! Already running an hour late, I had to run and wash the ends of my hair off in the sink and quickly dry and straighten it again. You would think that was the end of all my excitement. Nope! About ten minutes away from the location, my car starts to break down! And it couldn't have waited until I was in a safe spot. NO!!! It had to be on a very busy highway, in a very busy and large city. I am not a big city girl at all. That was only the second time I have even driven in a large city. I was so scared. So I finally make it to the bookstore and meet Jamie. That was awesome! She was so nice and sweet. Thank God she was still there. I was so so so late. I missed the Q and A's, but I made it right before she left. I was so relieved. Well, I let my car sit for awhile and tried driving it around the parking lot to see what I needed to do. It started right up and acted completely fine so I started my hour and a half drive back home. Right outside of Tulsa it started breaking down again! But I learned a trick. If I let it sit for a few minutes and tried again, it would go with no problem.....for a few miles. I ended up having to pull over on the highway quite a bit. I did finally make it home though. My hour and half drive turned into a FIVE hour drive. It was so frustrating. But oh so worth it if you ask me!!! I am so happy that I had the chance to meet Jamie and I can't wait for the next time. With a new car of course lol!

See? Totally worth it!!! :) Thank you Jamie for running late that day lol Hopefully next time, I will actually be on time lol

If you haven't read her books, you should check out her web page and Amazon page

No Brainer Cover Reveal

I am so extremely excited and honored that I was given the opprotunity to participate in the cover reveal for No Brainer by the wonderfully awesome AJ Lape! No Brainer is the second book in the Darcy Walker series and is due out in May. I am so excited to get my hands on this book. Book one, Grade A Stupid, was absolutely amazing. I know that No Brainer is going to be just as amazing. Darcy Walker is one of my favorite characters of all time. If you haven't read book one yet, I highly recommend you grab it fast! Now, check out this amazing cover and blurb for No Brainer!

Two weeks before junior year, Darcy hops a plane to Orlando for a little R&R with her best friend Dylan and his family. Fresh off the heels of solving three murders in Valley, you'd think she'd sit back and enjoy the vacation capital of the world…maybe if you're a noun. Darcy Walker, however, is nothing but verb.

Before her feet hit the Orlando soil...
, she's meddling in the disappearance of a five-year-old boy who vanished six months earlier.

With authorities still no closer to solving the case, Darcy is shanghaied by her impulsivity and runs headlong into that proverbial burning building, convinced she can bring him home.

She travels down a road that not only follows this missing child but branches off into the corrupt and sinister world of mob activity when she tampers in a case on which Dylan's detective grandfather is working.

After a near disastrous midnight meeting in a warehouse and a date with a mechanical bull, Darcy realizes she might've bitten off more than she can chew. Add the boiling flirtationship with her best friend and the appearance of his romantic rival, and she is in over her head.

Will she survive a life of flirting with death too easily? Or will her flirtationship with Dylan become the actual death of her instead?

For a girl with a habit of finding dead bodies, No Brainer gives Darcy Walker more of the same…surprising twists and turns…and running for her life.
